This week we shipped major new capabilities across the platform. Here's what's new.

NEW: Demand Response & Energy Market Participation

Voltra-managed assets can now participate in demand response programs and wholesale energy markets across major North American ISOs. Flexible loads on the platform can be automatically dispatched in response to grid signals, earning revenue for operators through capacity, energy, and emergency programs without additional hardware or manual enrollment.

Enrollment, dispatch, settlement, and reporting are handled programmatically through the platform. Support includes both smart charging (V1G) and bidirectional export (V2G) for EV assets.

Active US markets:

  • CAISO — Capacity, real-time energy, emergency, and Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS)

  • PJM — Emergency demand response with streamlined registration across 13 states and D.C.

  • NYISO — Special Case Resource (SCR), Commercial System Relief (CSRP), and Distribution Load Relief (DLRP)

  • ERCOT — Emergency Response Service (ERS) and utility programs

  • ISO-NE — ConnectedSolutions and utility programs, stackable with ISO-NE's Active Demand Capacity Resource (ADCR)

These markets will be rolled out over the coming weeks.

NEW: Full Device Connectivity

Voltra now supports direct device connectivity and management over MQTT, Modbus, BACnet, and DNP3. Any device that communicates over these protocols can be connected to the platform, monitored, controlled, and orchestrated alongside existing assets.

This means operators can bring the full range of on-site equipment, like inverters, meters, PLCs, BMS controllers, RTUs, sensors, and legacy industrial systems, into a single control plane without requiring vendor-specific integrations or gateway middleware. Devices are discovered, provisioned, and managed through the platform regardless of manufacturer or vintage.

Combined with Voltra's existing OCPP support, this closes the gap on protocol coverage for virtually any asset found at a modern energy site.
